Work Underway on Coleman Bridge Mechanical Repairs Between Yorktown and Gloucester Point

Work continues on the Coleman Bridge after mechanical problems slowed traffic between Yorktown and Gloucester Point. VDOT says a one-million-dollar contract has been awarded for temporary repairs, expected to wrap up early next year. Until then, the bridge must be operated manually, so openings for boats can take up to an hour instead of the usual 20 minutes. Authorities are asking vessels to provide two hours’ notice before crossing.
