Lancaster County residents now have a fully restored public beach at Windmill Point. The 15-month, $4.8 million project increased the beach area 20-fold, adding a 450-foot pier, public restrooms, a 50-space parking lot, and ADA-compliant amenities. About $2 million came from state and federal grants for flood preparedness. Officials say the project not only improves waterfront access but protects the shoreline and marina. Westland Beach is part of the Windmill Point County Maritime Recreational Campus, joining a boat launch and kayak and canoe launch, and is open daily from dawn to dusk.
