Seventeen volunteers with the Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship collected 15 bags of trash and several large items during a roadside cleanup April 27. The effort focused on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway near Wicomico Church. While the group thanked participants, they also urged drivers to stop littering, calling roadside trash harmful to wildlife and waterways. The group is now organizing its annual Fall Creek Cleanup and is seeking volunteers.
