Virginia’s minimum wage will increase to $12.77 per hour on Jan. 1, 2026, up from $12.41. The adjustment reflects a 2.9% rise in the U.S. Consumer Price Index over 2024. A bill that would have raised the wage to $13.50 next year and $15 by 2027 was vetoed by Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who cited concerns for small businesses outside Northern Virginia. Labor officials say the increase ensures gradual economic adjustment while maintaining Virginia’s business-friendly environment.
