Virginia Home Sales Rise In June For First Time In 5 Months

Virginia’s housing market showed signs of life in June, with home sales rising nearly 8% compared to the same month last year — the first year-over-year monthly increase since January. According to the Virginia REALTORS monthly report, more than 10,700 homes were sold statewide, but year-to-date sales are still slightly below 2024 levels. Active listings jumped nearly 30%, giving buyers more options, but homes are sitting on the market longer — a median of 12 days, up from 8 a year ago. Median prices rose 3.4% to about $446,000, pushing June’s total sales volume to $6.1 billion, a 13% increase. Elevated mortgage rates continue to weigh on buyer demand.
