The Urbanna Town Council is pressing engineers for firm details on how to replace the town marina bridge, including costs, timelines, and whether a temporary crossing is possible by Memorial Day. Council members raised concerns at their February 12 meeting after reviewing a proposed contract that left key figures blank. Town officials say the 16-foot bridge cannot be replaced with a culvert because of water flow and environmental permitting issues. Engineers have provided a verbal estimate of about $4.4 million for the project. The bridge was closed late last year after inspections recommended it be taken out of service. Council members say access for emergency vehicles, deliveries, and marina users remains a top concern as they move toward a short-term fix and a long-term replacement.
