Tappahannock Man Pleads Guilty In 2023 Wawa Shooting

A 36 year old Tappahannock man pleaded guilty last week in connection with a 2023 shooting at the town’s Wawa convenience store. Christopher Lamont Russell entered a plea to a reduced charge of unlawful wounding during a June 25 hearing in Essex Circuit Court. He was originally set for a jury trial this week. Russell is one of two suspects accused in the shooting. Sentencing is expected at a later date.
