State Revenues Run Ahead of Forecast Despite January Dip

Virginia state revenues dipped in January but remain well ahead of expectations for the fiscal year. The governor’s office reports collections fell 1.4 percent from a year ago, largely due to fewer deposit days. Even so, fiscal year revenues are up nearly seven percent and running almost three percent above forecast. Officials say strong individual income and sales tax collections are driving growth, while corporate tax revenues continue to lag.
