Some Virginia Schools Roll Out Ai Bus Cameras To Catch Stop Violations

Here in Virginia, efforts are being stepped up to catch drivers who fail to stop for school buses with flashing lights and extended ares. Chesterfield County is installing AI-powered cameras on every school bus starting this week. After a 30-day grace period, violators could face $250 fines. The system records potential offenders and sends data to police for review. The program aims to reduce reckless driving around that county’s nearly 700-bus fleet and begins issuing fines on October 13. Some other Virginia school districts are either already in the process of doing the same thing, or considering it.
