Richmond County Upgrades Voting Machines

Richmond County is moving forward with plans to upgrade its aging voting machines. The current machines, purchased in 2015, have a 10-year lifespan. The updated machines must meet the stricter Voluntary Voting System Guidelines which include enhanced security features. County officials are working with neighboring counties to secure a discount and have consulted with Congresswoman Rob Wittman’s office to ensure compliance with federal guidelines. The new machines will be tested and certified before any final purchase is made.
