A Northumberland Middle School science teacher was recognized by the Virginia Lottery for her impact in the classroom. Sarah Gordon was surprised with a “Thank a Teacher” prize, part of a statewide campaign honoring educators. The lottery partners with Virginia’s PTA and the Department of Education each year to spotlight teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Gordon’s prize includes a gift card and school supplies. The program draws nominations from across the state and aims to highlight those who go above and beyond for students.
