Northumberland County supervisors are facing continued financial problems after missing revenue records delayed the county’s audit process. Finance Director Anne Curran told the board February 12 that revenue from January through June 2025 was never entered into the county’s RDA financial system, forcing the pre-audit to be put on hold. Curran said she repeatedly requested working papers from UHY Advisors, which previously handled temporary finance duties, but received only expenditure files and no revenue documentation or reconciliations. The county paid just under $74,000 to the firm between July and October 2025. The delay has also affected the Annual School Report, which was due to the Virginia Department of Education last September. Board Chairman James Brann said supervisors need answers on how the books were closed without the revenue recorded.
