Norris Bridge Reopens After Crash on Route 3 – Work On Bridge Gets Underway Today

The Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River was closed Monday afternoon after a crash that happened just after 3 p.m. All lanes on Route 3 on the Middlesex side were closed, causing traffic delays. Traffic began to flow again just before 5. Authorities have not released any further details so far. In more bridge news today, drivers can expect overnight delays on the Robert O. Norris Bridge for the rest of this week. Starting tolday and running through Friday, a portion of Route 3 over the Rappahannock River will be reduced to a single lane from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Automatic flagging devices and certified crews will direct one-way, alternating traffic as survey work progresses across the bridge. Drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time.
