Middlesex County’s Economic Development Authority has been awarded $99,840 in GO Virginia Region 6 funds for a “River to Table – Blue Catfish Study.” The grant will support research on the state of the blue catfish industry, including harvesters, processors, and retail markets across the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. The study aims to outline priorities, estimate costs, and identify strategies to promote blue catfish businesses while addressing overpopulation in local waterways. Partnering counties and agencies will contribute a $62,590 match and assist in developing a coordinated regional plan.
