Middlesex County supervisors approved a $36.3 million budget for the next fiscal year after a lengthy debate over employee bonuses and sewer system funding. The board ultimately settled on a $700 bonus for most county workers, after rejecting earlier proposals for $750 and $207. The new budget also shifts $78,000 in the sheriff’s department to cover a records position and adds $20,000 more for that role. Tax rates remain unchanged at 61 cents per $100 for real estate and $2.69 for personal property. The new fiscal year starts July 1.
