Mathews Supervisors Review FY2027 Budget Requests

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors opened work on the FY2027 budget during a workshop that included a proposed 2 percent raise for county employees and nearly $400,000 in department funding requests. The plan also factors in pay adjustments, school funding pressures, and possible bonds for capital projects that could trigger a tax hike. Federal funding will help retire emergency radio system debt, but supervisors were told additional borrowing may be needed for schools and facilities.
