Mathews County is gearing up for its first two-day May Faire celebration, set for May 2 and 3 on and around the Court Green. This year’s theme is “A Rural Life,” with a spotlight on old country stores, post offices, and wharfs. Events include historical exhibits, kids’ games, vendor booths, food trucks, and a May Pole dance. Friday features a silent auction and archaeology dig. Saturday brings the annual Pound Cake Contest and courthouse presentations.
