
Lancaster High School captured the Region 1A golf championship Tuesday, beating runner-up Northumberland by 26 strokes at Golden Eagle Golf Club. The Red Devils shot a team low 326, following a narrow win over Rappahannock in the Northern Neck District tournament two weeks earlier. Northumberland finished second with 354, edging out Rappahannock by a single stroke to advance to the state championships at Hobbs Hole Golf Course today. Tyler Brent of Lancaster also claimed his second straight individual gold, as the team sets its sights on the Class 1 state title.
