Lancaster County Solar Ordinance Revisions Headed For August Hearing

Lancaster County’s Planning Commission will revisit proposed changes to its residential solar rules next month after a procedural mix-up. Planning Director Olivia Hall outlined the revisions last week, which include renaming the category to “small-scale solar,” capping output at 25 kilowatts, and limiting ground-mounted arrays to 2,500 square feet and 15 feet high. A special exception would be required for installations exceeding those limits or mounted on non-conforming structures. The commission will hold a public hearing August 21 to correct the earlier scheduling error.
