Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill case set for settlement conference

Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey W. Shaw has ordered Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill to attend a settlement conference on Dec. 5 with the Mathews County Board of Supervisors and County Administrator Ramona Wilson over an emergency injunction filed by the restaurant in July. The injunction followed the county’s unannounced eviction of the restaurant from Gwynn’s Island and seeks $80,000 for losses during the closure. Retired judge Timothy J. Hauler will oversee the conference, and each party must have a representative with full settlement authority. In a related matter, the board and two supervisors are asking the court to quash service of a separate lawsuit from the restaurant, citing discrepancies between the filed complaint and the one served, which could affect claims totaling up to $20 million.
