Hampton Roads Poised For $1 Billion In Military Construction Funding

Virginia, and specifically the Hampton Roads area, stands to gain from $1 billion in military construction under the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. The bill includes millions for housing and quality-of-life improvements for service members, including $380 million for unaccompanied sailors at Naval Station Norfolk. Lawmakers say the bill also accelerates shipbuilding, authorizing billions for submarines and aircraft carriers as the Navy works to meet rising demands. The Senate plans a vote next week before the House and Senate reconcile differences in a conference committee.
