Former JMU student, Liam Conaway, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in distributing fentanyl-laced pills that resulted in the death of Fairfax County teen, Cayden Foster. The tragic incident occurred in January 2023, when Cayden passed away from a fentanyl overdose while on a FaceTime call with a friend. His parents, Sean and Afrodita Foster, have been tirelessly seeking justice ever since. The Fosters, along with dozens of Cayden’s friends, attended the sentencing in a Harrisonburg, Virginia, federal courtroom. Conaway, who admitted to obtaining and selling the deadly pills, was held accountable for his actions. Additionally, Bessy Jimenez Mejia, Conaway’s supplier, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.
