J. Barry Bates, an Essex County cattle and grain producer, was recently honored for his five years of service on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors. Federation President Scott Sink presented the award during a board meeting in Richmond. Bates, who represents District 12, serves Farm Bureau producer members across multiple counties, including Essex, Caroline, and Gloucester.
