Dr. Harry R. Thomas III, superintendent of Essex County Public Schools since 2019, is set to leave at the end of the academic year. He plans to focus on consulting with school divisions to improve student achievement. Thomas, who has over 25 years of experience in Virginia education, helped Essex achieve full accreditation for its schools, including the high school, which hadn’t been accredited in nearly two decades.
