Coastal Flood Warning Issued For Portions Of Virginia

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning for Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland, Lancaster, Middlesex, and parts of Essex counties. It remained in effect until 2am today. Low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways in many areas were expected to see up to one foot of water, with some spots rising one to two feet. Officials warned of road closures, flooding of homes and businesses, and impacts to vehicles as water extended inland along rivers and bays. Residents are still urged to avoid flooded areas and stay alert to changing conditions.
