Roger “Butch” Gross, who has served as principal of Essex High School since the start of the academic year, announced his retirement, effective more than just immediately. It became effective March 1. Before becoming principal, Gross worked as the school division’s chief operations officer for about a year and a half. In a letter to families, Gross, a 1987 graduate of Essex High, shared his decision to retire after a dedicated career in education.
