Boar’s Head Provisions has reopened its meat processing plant in Jarratt, Virginia, about a year and a half after a 2024 listeria outbreak that killed 10 people, hospitalized 60 others, and triggered a 7-million-pound recall of deli products. The facility returns to operation following inspections and verification by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, along with major renovations and new safety protocols. The company says the plant will run under a stricter listeria control program using antimicrobial treatments, expanded testing, and upgraded sanitation. The reopening brings jobs back to the region.
