First District Congressman Rob Wittman has delivered 810-thousand dollars to the Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority. The funding was approved by Congress and signed into law earlier this month as part of a federal transportation and housing spending bill. The money will be used to acquire upland sites for the disposal of dredge material that cannot be reused for shoreline projects. Officials say the funding will help the authority run its own regional dredging program and better position the area for future work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
