The town of Tappahannock has been awarded a 5.4 million dollar state grant to address flooding problems at Rappahannock River Park along Newbill Drive. The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation approved the funding through its Community Flood Preparedness Fund. Town officials say the money will be used for major improvements aimed at reducing flood impacts at the riverfront park.
