Middlesex County supervisors have accepted a gift of 19 acres behind the old Rappahannock Central Elementary School at Cooks Corner from the school board. The property, declared surplus after the consolidation of Rappahannock Central Elementary and Wilton Elementary, is near county recreation areas and the Middlesex County Animal Shelter. The school board approved the transfer in November and the deed was formally accepted by the supervisors’ in December. The land had originally been acquired to expand the RCE campus and will now remain under county control.
