Lancaster Schools Achieve Full Accreditation After VBOE Appeal

Lancaster schools are now fully accredited after the Virginia Board of Education approved an appeal of the district’s earlier conditional status. Superintendent Jessica Davis told the school board on Monday, that a miscommunication had led to the conditional designation despite the division meeting all requirements. Over the past two years, Lancaster saw a 9% increase in English pass rates, a 7% rise in science scores, and a drop in chronic absenteeism from 27% to 19.7%. The district plans to continue addressing absenteeism among students with disabilities and increase the number of fully licensed teachers in classrooms.
