Virginia Implements New Laws Covering Social Media Telemarketers Unemployment and Health Care

9 days already into the new year, and Virginia residents are learning more about a range of new laws in 2026. Kids under 16 are now limited to one hour of social media daily unless a parent allows more. Telemarketers must honor “STOP” or “UNSUBSCRIBE” requests for at least 10 years. Unemployment benefits increase to $430 a week, while health insurers can no longer charge for routine or follow-up breast exams. And finally, courts must provide itemized fee invoices for those convicted of crimes or traffic violations who owe money.
