Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred at 1 a.m. Friday on Factory Road on Tangier Island. A 2016 EZ-GO golf cart, traveling westbound, went off the left side of the road, struck a sign, and ended up in the marsh. The driver, 83 year old Gordon W. Wheatley of Tangier Island, died at the scene. Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
