The Mathews County School Board met earlier this week, to begin the 2026-2027 budget process, discuss consolidating Mathews Elementary and Thomas Hunter Middle School into a single pre-K through seventh grade school, and review new state school performance data. Parents raised concerns about special education support at the elementary school.
