Gloucester County officials are moving forward with plans to restore historic buildings in the county’s court circle, including the colonial courthouse and the Debtors’ Prison. Structural issues have been addressed, like brick deterioration, plumbing and HVAC problems, along with previous renovations that trapped moisture in walls. Supervisors emphasized phased renovations starting with the most critical structures, and highlighted the potential to boost tourism and showcase Gloucester’s historical significance. The process is expected to take several years to complete.
