Mathews resident Christopher Scott has collected $11,000 and a variety of gifts for children in need through his Virginia Hound Christmas Benefit Hunt. The event, held Nov. 1 in Sussex County, featured 110 hunting dogs competing in a field trial, with entry fees, raffles, and merchandise sales contributing to the total. Donated items included 15 bicycles, toys, clothes, and shoes, which will be distributed to foster children and families in need. Scott said the goal is to make the benefit an annual tradition while highlighting the hound hunting community and supporting children who might otherwise go without during the holidays.
