Virginia lawmakers have again failed to pass legislation to end daylight saving time, though a majority of Americans say they want to stop changing clocks twice a year. Lawmakers have repeatedly introduced bills to keep Eastern Daylight Time year-round, citing benefits for health, happiness, and the economy. Experts warn that switching clocks disrupts circadian rhythms, can worsen seasonal affective disorder, and increases accidents in the days after changes. Efforts to make permanent DST nationwide, including the Sunshine Protection Act, have also stalled in Congress.
