NNPDC Awarded Funding For Tree Planting Project

The Northern Neck Planning District Commission has received funding from the Virginia Department of Forestry for a tree-planting initiative marking the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. The “250 for 250” project will plant trees at sites including Stratford Hall, the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Longwood University, and Lancaster High School. Implemented with Friends of the Rappahannock, the effort aims to restore the region’s declining tree canopy and improve water quality. Local company Stella-Jones is providing 10 cubic yards of hardwood mulch to support the project.
