Tappahannock-Essex Airport Breaks Ground on New Hangars

The Essex County Airport Authority broke ground last week on a $2.4 million project to build six new hangars at the Tappahannock-Essex County Airport. The project, expected to be finished by March, is funded largely by the FAA and Virginia Department of Aviation, with the Authority contributing from fuel sale profits. Airport officials say the hangars will boost revenue through rentals and fuel sales and meet growing demand, with at least 10 pilots already on a waiting list. A new fueling system is also planned to support operations.
