Virginia Launches Aerospace Academy of Eastern Shore Lab School

Virginia has opened the Aerospace Academy of the Eastern Shore Lab School, a program aimed at preparing high school students for careers in the aerospace industry. Students from chosen high schools can participate all four years, taking cyber, engineering, and computer science classes before moving on to college-level courses at Eastern Shore Community College. The program offers paths to an associate degree in aerospace engineering or a technician certificate in aerospace technology, along with college credits in math and English. Officials say the academy leverages the region’s proximity to NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport to build a pipeline into Virginia’s growing aerospace workforce.
