The Westmoreland County and A.T. Johnson museums are featuring two lectures on piracy in the Chesapeake Bay. “History of Pirates on the Chesapeake Bay” was presented September 13 by maritime historian Donald Shomette. If you missed it, you still can catch the second one… “Intro to Piracy: Past & Present” … set for next Thursday, September 25. Doors open at 5 p.m., with lectures starting at 5:30. Shomette is an internationally recognized expert, who has worked with the Maryland Historical Trust and National Geographic, bringing decades of research on pirates and privateers to local audiences.
