Recent data suggesting that the average home is going to spend $900 on heating, up nearly 9 percent from last year. Homes that use electricity instead of gas could see bills increase by over 14% to nearly $12 hundred dollars. Data shows that 1 in 6 households are behind on utility bills, with a total amount owed of around $21 billion. Programs to assist with high costs are struggling, and experts recommend lowering your house temperature and turning down the heat on your water heater to save money.
