$348 million Mega Million jackpot winner sold in Burgess

Someone is walking around Northumberland a mega-millionare, but we don’t know who it is yet, and we may never know. A single ticket purchased at the Corner Mart in Burgess matched all six numbers in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, winning an estimated $348 million jackpot. The ticket holder has 180 days to claim the full prize paid out over 30 years, or take a one time payment of 155.5 million before taxes. State law prohibits the Virginia Lottery from releasing the names of winners of any prize over 1-million dollars, so they can remain anonymous if they choose. The prize is the largest win in Commonwealth history, and is the 10th Mega Millions grand prize won in Virginia since the game began in 2002.
