Northumberland County’s Anti-Litter Committee will give out free cargo nets this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at disposal centers in Horsehead, Ditchley and Lottsburg. The effort targets unsecured loads—one of the top sources of roadside litter. Residents must sign a pledge to use the nets when hauling trash or loose cargo. Supplies are limited. Virginia law requires all loads be secured on state roads to avoid fines and accidents.
