The long-delayed Broad Creek dredging project is finally underway in Deltaville. Middlesex County hired Seaward Marine to remove over 28,000 cubic yards of material from Broad Creek and the Rappahannock River. The $1.47 million effort is funded by a $2.3 million grant from the Virginia Port Authority. A buried transfer pipe once feared lost was located, saving the county an extra $200,000. Completion is expected in about two months, depending on weather.
