Justice Department Sues Virginia Over Assault Weapons Ban
The U.S. Department of Justice has sued Virginia and the Virginia State Police over the state’s new assault weapons ban, calling it unconstitutional and a violation of the Second Amendment. The law has already been put on hold by court orders while legal challenges move forward.

Virginia agriculture officials are urging residents to watch for the invasive spotted lanternfly, which damages grapevines, fruit trees, maples and other plants. The insect spreads by laying egg masses on vehicles and outdoor equipment. Residents are encouraged to inspect vehicles, destroy any lanternflies they find and report sightings to state agriculture officials.
